Jackdaws are the most likely type of bird to build their nests in your chimney. They do this by dropping twigs down the chimney until once catches, usually at the bend. They then continue dropping twigs and other nesting material down the chimney until a nest builds up to their desired height,
this can be up to several metres deep!
Some signs of a nest in your chimney may include:
Twigs and debris falling down your chimney,
an increase in bird noise coming from your roof,
smoke backing up into your room,
damp coming through the chimney stack,
increased bird activity on your roof.
